Bailey, Alexander H
jurist, congressman, was born Aug. 14, 1817, in Minisink, N. Y.
He was a justice of the peace at Catskill for four years; was a member of the state assembly in 1849; and judge of Greene county for four years from 1851. He was a member of the state senate from 1861 to 1864; was elected a representative from New York to the fortieth congress, in the place of Roscoe Conkling; and was re-elected to the fortyfirst congress. He died April 20, 1874, in Rome, N. Y.
