Gallagher, William Davis

journalist, author, poet, was born Aug. 21, 1808, in Philadelphia, Pa. He received his a at education at the Lancasterian seminary of Cincinnati, Ohio. He commenced life as a printer, then became a proofreader; and subsequently filled the editorial chair on a Cincinnati daily newspaper. He published The Quarterly Review, and was prominent in the early literary annals of the Ohio valley. He was the author of Miami Woods, and Other Poems; A Golden Wedding, and Other Poems; and Erato, a volume of verse. He died in 1894 in Louisville, Ky.
