Burnett, John

lawyer, legislator, jurist, was born July 4, 1831, in Pike county, Mo. He has had a varied and successful career as a lawyer; has defended at different times thirty different men charged with the crime of muraer, none of whom were hung, and only five convicted of any offense. He has been county judge, circuit judge, supreme court judge, and served with distinction as a state senator of the Oregon legislature, taking an active part on some of the most important committees.
