Burnham, Alfred A
lawyer, jurist, congressman, was born March 8, 1819, in Windham, Conn. He was elected to the Connecticut legislature in 1844 and 1845; was subsequently appointed judge of probate for the district of Danbury; and in 1850 was again elected to the state legislature. In 1857 he was lieutenant-governor of Connecticut; and in 1858 was again elected to the legislature, and made speaker. In 1859 he was elected a representative from Connecticut to the thirtysixth congress, and re-elected to the thirty-seventh congress.
