Blair, Henry William
was born Dec. 6, 1834, in Campton, N. H. He received an academic education; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1859; and was prosecuting attorney for Grafton county in 1860. He served in the union army as lieutenantcolonel during the war of the rebellion.
He was a representative in the state legislature in 1866, and a state senator in 1867 and 1868. He was elected a representative from New Hampshire to the forty-fourth and fortyfifth congresses; declined a renomination; and was elected a senator of the United States from New Hampshire, for the term of six years; and in 1885 was re-elected for a second term. He also served in the fifty-third congress.
