Blair, Hugh M

educator, clergyman, was born Sept. 9, 1853, in Caldwell county, N. C. He graduated from the Rutherford college, and then commenced educational work. He was principal of the Hickory high school during 1876-81; and for awhile was editor of the Western Carolinian, of Hickory, N. C. In 1883 he entered the ministry of the methodist episcopal church south. In 1895 he became editor of the North Carolina Christian Advocate; and in 1896 was made presiding elder in the western North Carolina conference.
