Taft, Russell Smith

lawyer, state senator, jurist, author, was born Jan. 28, 1835, in Williston, Vt. He is a successful lawyer of Burlington, Vt.; and has filled numerous municipal positions of honor. He has been a member of the Vermont house of representatives and also of the state senate; and was presiding officer in both houses. He has been city and state's attorney, and filled the office of lieutenant-governor of Vermont.

Since 1880 he has been judge of the supreme court of Vermont. He is the author of a sketch of the supreme court of Vermont, and a Judicial History of Vermont.
