Plumb, Ralph

soldier, merchant, lawyer, state legislator, congressman, was born March 29, 1816, in Busti, N. Y. In 1854 he was elected a representative in the Ohio state legislature and served three sessions. He was brevetted lieutenantcolonel for long and meritorious service in the civil war. In 1866 he moved to Illinois; and in 1882 was elected mayor of Streator without an opposing vote, and continued in that office until 1885. In 1884 he was elected a representative from Illinois to the forty-ninth and fiftieth congresses as a republican.
