Pacheco, Romualdo
agriculturist, lawyer, jurist, state senator, congressman, was born Oct. 31, 1831, in Santa Barbara, Cal. He was a representative in the California state legislature in 1853; and in 1855 was elected county judge, and served four years. He was a state senator in 1851, and again in 1861. He was elected state treasurer in 1863; and was again in the state legislature in 1868. He was elected lieutenant-governor in 1871; and became governor by the election of Governor Booth to the United States senate. He was elected a representative from California to the forty-fifth congress, but his seat was successfully contested; and was re-elected to the forty-sixth and fortyseventh congresses as a republican.
