Plumer, William

lawyer, state legislator, governor, United States senator, was born June 25, 1759, in Newburyport, Mass. He was for many years solicitor for the county of Rockingham; was for eight years a member of the state legislature, two years speaker of the house; and served as a member and president of the state senate. He was a senator in congress from 1802 to 1807; and was governor of New Hampshire in 1813, and from 1816 to 1819. He died June 22, 1850, in Epping, N. H.
