Pendleton, Samuel Evans

clergyman, was born in 1840, in Logan county, Ill. He received his education at the Chaddock college of Illinois, and has attained prominence as one of the foremost clergymen in the United States. He has preached in all the principal cities of the union; for fifteen years has been presiding elder in the Kansas conference; and has been a delegate to the general conference four times.

PENDLETON, WILLIAM NELSON, soldier, educator, clergyman, author, was born Dec. 26, 1809, in Richmond, Va. He was an episcopal clergyman and educator of Virginia, a confederate officer during the civil war, and subsequently rector of Grace church, Lexington, Va. He was the author of Science a Witness for the Bible. He died in 1883.
