Howe, Albert R

soldier, state legislator, congressman, was born Jan. 2, 1840, in Brookfield, Mass. He served in the forty-seventh Massachusetts infantry as sergeant, lieutenant, and acting adjutant, participating in the campaign in North Carolina; was commissioned second lieutenant in the fifth Massachusetts cavalry; promoted to be major, serving in Virginia and Texas until November, 1865. He was a member of the Mississippi state convention in 1868; and a delegate to the Chicago national convention in 1868. He was appointed treasurer of Panola county in 1869; and was a member of the legislature in 1870, 1871, and 1872.

He was elected to the forty-third congress as a republican.
