Swensson, Carl A
clergyman, lecturer, author, was born June 25, 1857, in Sugar Grove, Pa. He has received a thorough education in the universities of America and Europe; and has had conferred upon him the degrees of A. B., A. M. and Ph. D. In 1885 he was secretary of the general council of the evangelical lutheran church; and president of the same in 1893-94. In 1888-89 he served with distinction as a member of the Kansas state legislature, and since 1891 has been pastor of the Bethany lutheran church of Lindsborg, Kan. He was the founder of Bethany college, and president of that institution since 1891. He is a distinguished lecturer; the author of several Swedish works, and for nearly a quarter of a century has contributed to the periodical press.
