author, was born in 1850, in Ohio. She is a popular New York writer for young people, and wife of the artist, J. Wells Champney, who has illustrated many of her books. She is the author of The Three Vassar Girls Series; The Witch Winnie Books; The Bubbling Teapot; Howling Wolf and his Trick-Pony; All Around a Palette; Children's Art Sketches; In the Sky Garden; Fables in Astronomy, and other juveniles; and the novels, Bourbon Lilies; Sebia's Tangled Web; and Rosemary and Rue.
