Champneys, Benjamin

lawyer, jurist, legislator, was born in January, 1800, in Bridgeton, N. J. He was attorney-general of his state, and a member of both houses of the state legislature. He died Aug. 9, 1871, in Lancaster, Pa.

CHANCELLOR, CHARLES WIL- LIAMS, physician, author, was born Feb. 19, 1833, in Spottsylvania county, Va. He is an eminent physician of Baltimore, and the author of Prisons, Reformatories, and Charitable Institutions of Maryland; Mineral Waters and Seaside Resorts; Contagious and Infectious Diseases; Drainage of the Marsh Lands of Maryland; Heredity; and The Sewerage of Cities.
