Chase, Lyman Cleveland

educator, clergyman, author, was born Oct. 2, 1839, in Rutland, Ohio. He attended the district schools in Ohio; commenced teaching at the age of fifteen, and in 1866 graduated from the Hillsdare college. The same year he entered Atwood institute, Ohio, as principal. In 1869 he was ordained a clergyman in the free baptist church. In 1882 he moved to Kansas, and the following year became superintendent of missions in the freewill baptist church and has ever since been engaged in ministerial work. He is the author of Contending for the Faith; and Christian's Manual of His Essentials to Success in Christian Life and Work.
