Bull, Melville
congressman, was born in 1854, in Newport, R. I. He was a member of the state legislature in 1883- 85; senator in 1885-92; lieutenant-governor in 1892-94; member of republican state central committee in 1885 to 1895; and was delegate to the republican national convention in 1888. He took an active part in establishing the naval reserve militia of the state; and has been one of the board of managers of the Rhode Island College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts and Experiment station since its establishment in 1888. He was elected to the fifty-fourth and fifty-fifth congresses as a republican.
