Bransford, Clifton Wood

journalist, orator, banker, was born Jan. 24, 1858, in Owensboro, Ky. He attended Bransford institute (which was founded by his father) and graduated in 1887 from the Cumberland university of Lebanon, Tenn. In 1877-78 he attended the Louisville Law school; but subsequently abandoned law to enter journalism; and for ten years he was editor of The Messenger of Owensboro, Ky. Since 1887 he has been successfully engaged in the milling business, and is the proprietor of the Bransford Mills and Elevator. He was instrumental in organizing the Owensboro Banking company, of which he has always been president. He is also prominently identified with various business enterprises of his city; and was unanimously chosen elector on the Bryan and Sewall ticket, but resigned before election. He has also attained prominence as an eloquent orator.
