Bowen, Henry
soldier, farmer, congressman, was born Dec. 26, 1841, in Maiden Spring, Va. He was educated at Emory and Henry college, Va.; entered the confederate army at the outbreak of the civil war; was promoted to a captaincy; and was taken prisoner in 1864 and confined in Fort Delaware until the close of the war. He was elected a representative in the state legislature in 1869, and reelected in 1871; and was elected a representative from Virginia to the fortyeighth and fiftieth congresses.
