Bissell, Melville R

inventor, manufacturer, was born Sept. 25, 1843, in Hartwick, N. Y. He was the inventor of the Bissell carpet sweeper. In 1883 he organized a stock company for manufacturing his carpet sweeper, and the business increased until it became the largest of its kind in the world. He died March 15, 1.889, in Grand Rapids, Mich.

BISSELL, PELHAM ST. GEORGE, capitalist, was born Dec. 5, 1858, in New York city. The Adirondacks Pulp .company was organized by him, afterward being merged in The International Pulp company.
