Bright, Jesse D
jurist, state senator, lieutenant, governor, United States senator, was born Dec. 18, 1812, in Norwich, N. Y. He was circuit judge of Indiana; state senator; marshal of the United States for the district of Indiana; and lieutenant-governor of that state.
He was a United States senator from Indiana from 1845 to 1857, and president of the senate during several sessions. He was elected for an additional term in 1857, for six years. He subsequently settled in Kentucky, and was elected to the senate of that state. He died May 20, 1875, in Baltimore, Md.
