Bernhardt, Wilhelm
educator, author, was born May 9, 1849, in Halle, Germany. Since 1881 he has been head of the German department in the Central high school of Washington, D. C.; and since 1892 director of German instruction in the high schools of that city. He is the author of a series of German text-books for schools and colleges, and during the summer lectures on German literature in the Amherst Summer School of Languages.
BERNHEIM, GOTTHARDT DELL- MAN, clergyman, author, was born in 1827. He is a lutheran clergyman at Phillipsburg, N. J., and the author of The Success of God's Work; Localities of the Reformation; and History of the German Settlements in North and South Carolina.
