Benjamin, Marcus
editor, author, was born Jan. 17, 1857, in San Francisco, Cal. In 1867 he moved with his parents to New York city, and in 1878 graduated in the chemical course of the school of mines of Columbia college. In 1882 he became editor of the American Pharmacist, and subsequently was on the editorial staff on the Engineering and Mining Journal. He has been on the editorial staff of Appleton's Cyclopedia of American Biography; Appleton's Annual Cyclopedia; Johnson's Universal Cyclopedia; Standard Dictionary; and various other works. He is now connected with the United States national museum of Washington, D. C.
