Barber, John Warner

author, was born Feb. 2, 1798, in Windsor, Conn.

He was an industrious annalist whose compilations, though of slight literary merit, are valuable as historical material not so readily accessible elsewhere. is the author of Historical Collections of Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and Ohio, the four last being prepared with the assistance of Henry Howe; History of New Haven; Elements of General History; and Historical Scenes in the United States. He died in June, 1885, in New Haven, Conn.
