Barstow, Zedekiah Smith

educator, legislator, author, was born Oct. 4, 1790, in Canterbury, Conn. In 1818 he became pastor of a congregational church in Keene, N. H. He continued to teach the classics after his settlement at Keene, and the late Chief-Justice Chase was one of his pupils. In 1868-69 he was a member of the New Hampshire legislature, and chaplain of that body. He published many sermons, dissertations, and essays, and was a frequent contributor to religious periodicals. He died March 1, 1873, in Keene, N. H.
