Barringer, Daniel Moreau

lawyer, legislator, congressman, was born in 1807 in Cabarras county, N. C. He commenced practicing law in 1829, and in that year was elected a member of the state legislature, in which position he continued for a number of years. He was a representative in congress from North Carolina from 1843 to 1849, when he was appointed Minister to Spain. On his return home he was elected to the state legislature. He was elected a delegate to the peace congress of 1861, and also to the Philadelphia national union convention of 1866. He died Sept. 1, 1873, in Green Brier Springs, Va.
