Barnett, James
soldier, merchant, banker, congressman, was born June 21, 1821, in Cherry Valley, N. Y. He received his education in the public schools Cleveland, Ohio, and is a successful hardware merchant of that city. During the civil war he served with distinction, and attained the rank of brigadier-general.
In 1882 he was elected a member of congress from Cleveland by the republican party. He has served as president of the First National bank, and is prominently identified with the business and public affairs of his city and state.
