Barnes, William H
lawyer, jurist, legislator, was born in 1843 in Hampton, Conn. In 1866 he was admitted to the bar and commenced the practice of law at Jacksonville, Ill. He was a representative in the state legislature in 1871 and 1872, and was a delegate to the democratic national conventions of 1876, 1880 and 1884. He was a member of every democratic state convention held in Illinois between 1865 and 1885, and in 1885 was appointed an associate justice of the supreme court of the territory of Arizona.
