Baldwin, Simeon
lawyer, jurist, congressman, was born Dec. 14, 1761, in Norwich, Conn. He was a representative in congress from Connecticut from 1803. to 1805, and declined a re-election. In 1806 he was appointed, by the legislature, associate judge of the superior court and of the supreme court of errors, and held the office until 1817. In 1822 he was chosen by the general assembly one of the commissioners to locate the Farmington canal, and was made president of that board. In 1826 he was elected mayor of New Haven. He died May 26, 1851, in New Haven, Conn.
