Whitney, Milton Burrall

lawyer, legislator, was born Oct. 6, 1825, in Granville, Mass. He received the rudiments of his education in the public schools of his native city; was fitted for college, with Rev. Dr. Timothy M. Cooley; graduated from Williams college in 1849; and admitted to the bar at Springfield, Mass., in 1853. In 1862-63 he served as Massachusetts state senator from western Hampden district, serving on several important committees. In 1868 he was a presidential elector; in 1880 was a delegate to the republican national convention; and during 1881-97 was a member of the Massachusetts state board of education. He is one of the foremost lawyers of New England at Westfield, Mass.
