Wetherbee, Gardner
was born Nov. 8, 1838, in Harvard, Mass. In 1873 he returned to New York to lease from John T. Daly the Windsor hotel, on Fifth avenue at Forty-seventh street, in partnership with Samuel Hawk, under the firm name of Hawk and Wetherbee. This was a new and exceedingly handsome hotel, situated in the heart of the fashionable residence section of the city, requiring skillful management, but promising good returns to a firm, competent to conduct one of the finest public houses in the metropolis in a proper man- The entire success of the Windsor hotel is a sufficient commentary upon the excellence of its management. ner.
