Weir, Allen
lawyer, legislator, jurist, was born April 24, 1854, in Los Angeles county, Cal. He received his education in the public schools of California and Washington territory, and finished at the Olympia Collegiate institute. He has been municipal judge of Port Townsend, Wash.; United States commissioner; and secretary of the board of trade of that city; and a member and chairman of the Puget Sound board of health. For twelve years he was the editor and owner of the Puget Sound Argus, a prominent daily and weekly newspaper. He has served with distinction as a member of the upper house of the Washington territorial legislature; was a member of the constitutional state convention in 1889; and during 1889-93 was the first secretary of state. In 1892 he was acting governor for the state of Washington at the dedication of the World's Columbian Exposition buildings at Chicago. This eminent lawyer practices in all state and federal courts, and resides in Olympia.
