Shepard, Thomas
clergyman, author, was born Nov. 5, 1605, in England. He was a puritan clergyman who came to America in 1635, and from 1636 until his death was minister of what is now the Shepard church in Cambridge. He was the author of New England's Lamentations for Old England's Present Errours; The Sound Beleever; The Clear Sunshine of the Gospel; Theses Sabbaticæ; Subjection to Christ; The Parable of the Ten Virgins Opened and Applied; and Autobiography. His Sermons, with Memoir by Alger, were printed in three volumes in 1853. He died Aug. 25, 1649, in cambridge, Mass.
