Prime, Benjamin Young

physician, author, poet, was born Dec. 20, 1733, in Huntington, L. I. He was a physician of Huntington, L. I., who wrote patriotic verses during the revolutionary period.

The Patriot Muse, published in 1764, includes his earlier poems. Columbia's Glory, or British Pride Humbled, is a long poem printed in 1791. He died Oct. 31, 1791, in Huntington, N. Y.

PRIME, EDWARD DORR GRIFFIN, clergyman, journalist, author, was born Nov. 2, 1814, in Cambridge, N. Y. He was a presbyterian clergyman who was one of the editors of The New York Observer, to which he contributed the Letters of Eusebius. He was the author of Around the World; and Forty Years in the Turkish Empire, or Memoirs of Reverend William Goodell. He died April 7, 1891, in New York.
