Piatt, John James
poet, was born March 1, 1835, in James Mills (now Milton), Ind. He is a poet who was consul at Cork in 1882-93. He has been a prolific writer of verse, but The Morning Street, one of his earlier poems, still ranks as his finest effort. He is the author of Landmarks; Western Windows; Poems of House and Home; Idyls and Lyrics of the Ohio Valley; Poems in Sunshine and Firelight; The Lost Farm, and Other Poems; At the Holy Well; A Dream of Church Windows (a revised edition of Poems of House and Home); The Lost Hunting Ground; and Little New World Idyls. His prose is included in Penciled Fly-Leaves; and A Return to Paradise.
