Peter, George
soldier, state legislator, congressman, was born Sept. 28, 1779, in Georgetown, Md. He entered the United States army in 1799, and resigned in 1809; and served as major of volunteers during the war of 1812. He was a representative in congress from Maryland from 1816 to 1819, and again from 1825 to 1827. He was twice elected to the state legislature, and also served the public as commissioner of public works for the state of Maryland. He died June 22, 1861, in Montgomery county, Md.
