Orne, Azor
lawyer, jurist, state senator, was born July 22, 1731, in Marblehead, Mass. He became a judge of the general court of Massachusetts in 1775, and in January, 1776, was appointed by the provincial congress one of the three major-generals of Massachusetts militia.
After the adoption of the state constitution in 1780 he was in the state senate and council for many years. He died June 6, 1796, in Boston, Mass.
ORNE, MRS. CAROLINE (CHAPLIN), author, was born in Massachusetts. She was a popular magazinist, who was the author of more than two hundred and fifty stories. She died in 1882.
