Murphy, Robert S

soldier, publicofficial, legislator, was born April 15, 1840, in Paulding county, Ohio. In 1861 he enlisted as a private in company E, thirtieth Indiana regiment volunteer infantry; was continuously in the service, and participated in the bat-- tle of Shiloh, the siege of Vicksburg, and numerous other until engagements 1865; and was commissioned first lieutenant of marines May 9, 1864. He has filled numerous pub-- lic positions of trust in Mandale, Ohio; has been justice of the peace and county auditor; and was elected to the seventysecond general assembly of the Ohio state: legislature as a republican.
