Morse, Jedidiah
clergyman, author, was born Aug. 23, 1761, in Woodstock, Conn. He was a congregational clergyman of New England. He is sometimes styled the Father of American Geography, his being the first school text-books in America of any importance. He was the author of Elements of Geography ; American Gazetteer; Annals of the American Revolution; Compendious History of New England; Geography Made Easy; and ; and American Geography. He died June 9, June 9, 1826, in New Haven, Conn.
