Miller, William R
lawyer, governor, was born Nov. 27, 1823, near Batesville, Ark. In 1857 he removed to Little Rock, Ark.; and served as auditor, by reelections, until 1865. In 1866 he was again elected auditor. He returned to Batesville and resumed the practice of his profession; and in 1874 was again elected auditor of the state, serving until 1877.
In 1876 he was elected governor of Arkansas; and was re-elected in 1878, serving until 1881. In 1874 he again took up his residence in Little Rock; was deputy state treasurer in 1881 and 1882; and in 1886 was again elected state auditor.
