Mason, John Thomson

jurist, legislator, congressman, was born in May, 1815, in Montpelier, Md. In 1838 he was elected a member of the legislature of Maryland, and re-elected in 1839. He was a representative in congress from 1841 to 1843, being at that time the youngest man in congress. In 1851 he was elected by the people, under the new constitution of the state, a judge of the court of appeals, which position he filled until 1857, when he resigned, and was appointed collector of the port of Baltimore. He died March 28, 1873, in Annapolis, Md.
