Mesick, William S
lawyer, congressman, was born Aug. 26, 1856, in Newark, N. Y. Since 1881 he has been in active practice of the law; and held the office of prosecuting attorney of Antrim county, Mich., for one term. He was elected to the fifty-fifth congress as a republican. MESSENGER, LILLIAN ROZELL, poet, was born in 1853 in Kentucky. In 1886 she published a volume of prose and verse entitled Fragments from an Old Inn; and the following year appeared The Vision of Gold, and Other Poems; and The Southern Cross is her latest volume. These works contain many rare gems of thought that entitle her to a laurel wreath of fame as a national poet.
