Mcpherson, John Roderic
agriculturist, business man, United States senator, was born May 9, 1833, in Livingston county, N. Y. He was a state senator from New Jersey from 1871 to 1873. In 1873 he was elected president of the Central Stock-Yard and Transit company, and continued in that position. He was a presidential elector in 1876, and was elected a senator of the United States from New Jersey for the term of six years from March 4, 1877, and was re-elected in 1883, and again in 1889.
