Mcgovern, Patrick K
catholic priest, was born Sept. 12, 1826, in New York city. In 1848 he graduated from St. John's college of Fordham, N. Y. In September of the same year he entered St. Joseph's Theological seminary of Fordham, N. Y.; and in 1853 was ordained a priest. Shortly afterward he became assistant pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul's churches of Brooklyn, N. Y. Later on he was placed in charge of St. Mary's church of Croton-on-the-Hudson, where he now is and has been during the past twenty years. His benevolence and love of truth and justice haveendeared him not only to the catholics, but to the people of every denomination. In 1891 the degree of doctor of philosophy was conferred upon him by St. John's college of Fordham, N. Y.
