Mcdonald, Charles James
jurist, legislator, state senator, governor, was born July 9, 1793, in Charleston, S. C. He was solicitor-general in 1822; and a judge of the circuit court of Georgia in 1825.
He was in the legislature in 1834, a member of the state senate in 1837, and was elected governor of Georgia in 1839, and re-elected in 1841. From 1857 until his death he was a judge of the supreme court of Georgia. He died Dec. 16, 1860, in Marietta, Ga.
