Mathews, Vincent
lawyer, state senator, congressman, was born June 29, 1766, in Orange, N. Y. He was elected a state representative from New York in 1793, and in 1796 was chosen a state senator. From 1809 to 1811 he was a representative in congress, and in 1812 was appointed district attorney for a number of counties in western New York. Toward the close of his life he served again in the assembly of the state, and was district attorney for Monroe county. He died Aug. 23, 1846, in Rochester, N. Y.
