Marshall, James W

soldier, lawyer, state senator, congressman, was born March 31, 1844, in Augusta county, Va.

He was elected to the Virginia senate in 1875, and served four years; and was elected a member of the general assembly of Virginia in 1882-83. He was elected commonwealth attorney for Craig county in 1884, and served till 1888, inclusive.

He was elected to the Virginia senate in 1891 for term of four years; served in same session of 1891-92, and was elected to the fifty-third congress as a democrat.
