Linney, Romulus Z
soldier, lawyer, state senator, congressman, was born Dec. 26, 1841, in Rutherford county, N. C. He served in the confederate army as a private soldier until the battle of Chancellorsville, where he was severely wounded. Having been discharged from the army because of his wound, he returned to Taylorsville, N. C., where he has attained eminence at the bar. He was elected to the state senate in 1870, 1873, and again in 1882; and was elected to the fiftyfourth, and re-elected to the fifty-fifth congress as a republican.
