Lyon, Asa
clergyman, jurist, legislator, congressman, author, was born Dec. 31, 1763, in Pomfret, Conn. He was appointed chief judge of Grand Isle county in 1805, serving as such for nine years; and was elected to the legislature as a representative from South Hero in 1800- 08; and from Grand Isle in 1810-11. He was a member of the executive council in 1808; and was elected a member of congress from 1815-17. He was a member of the corporation of the university of Vermont from 1814-21. For many years and until his death he was an able preacher of the gospel. He died April 4, 1841, in South Hero, Conn.
