Judd, Francis Emerson

educator, clergyman, author, poet, was born April 19, 1827, in Stanstead, Province of Quebec, Canada. He received the degree of A. M. from the university of Vermont; and the same degree was conferred upon him by Bishop's college of Lennoxville, Canada. He received the degree of D. D. from the Griswold college of Davenport, Iowa, in which institution he was a professor for several years. He moved to Iowa in 1857; was president of the standing committee of the diocese of Iowa; and secretary of the diocesan convention; has been rector of prominent parishes in Iowa; and attained success as an eminent clergyman of the protestant episcopal church. He is the author of several ecclesiastical works; published sermons and a number of meritorious poems.
